Chuck "Charles Ivan" Dimmick, 76, of Salem,Virginia, passed away on March 13, 2024.

Chuck was born on April 12, 1947, in Washington DC.  Chuck’s Father was an Army Dr and Chuck and family lived all over the world! They lived in Japan, Korea, Iran and more; cherishing each cultures. Chuck was very worldly and never met a stranger. Having such an interesting childhood he chose to enlist in the Military!  He always wanted to be a pilot so he joined the Air Force in 1970! He served 23 years and retired as a Lieutenant Colonel in 1993! After retirement he became a Math teacher in Sacramento California for 5 years and then an engineer at Alza for 5 years. Then he became a dedicated member of the City Council in Vacaville, California and Vice major for 4 years.

Chuck was known for his adventurous spirit and love for various hobbies including skiing, sailing, canoeing, go-karting, flying airplanes, traveling, camping, and woodworking to name just a few! His passion for life extended to his career transitions from the military to education and public service.

Chuck is survived by his loving wife, Phyllis Dimmick; his sisters, Betty Dilla, Pricilla Storch, and Kay Dimmick; sisters in law, Juanita Davis, Jean St. Clair, Judy St. Clair, and Lorraine St. Clair; and brother in law, Paul St. Clair; and numerous nieces and nephews.

He was preceded in death by his father, Ivan Charles Dimmick; mother Marion Dimmick; mother and father in law, Clarence and Effie St. Clair; brothers in law, James St. Clair, Kenny St. Clair, Buford St. Clair, George St. Clair, Lee Davis, and Leon Martin; and sister in law, Josephine Martin;

A service in memory of Chuck Dimmick will be held at Lotz Funeral Home, 1330 E. Main Street, Salem, VA 24153 on Wednesday, March 20, 2024 at 2:00 pm. The family will receive friends prior to the service at Lotz Funeral Home from 1:00 until 2:00 pm. In lieu of flowers, contributions can be made to the Davis and McDaniel Care Center and the Salem Veterans Administration.

Chuck's legacy of service and dedication to his community will always be remembered by those whose lives he touched.
