CHARLES DAVID BAYS

Charles D. Bays, 73, of Roanoke County, Va., joined our Heavenly Father on Wednesday, April 19, 2017. 

He was the son of the late Austin and Naomi Chafin Bays. 

Charles was a salesman for many years of chemical fertilizers.  He was an avid bird hunter, training his own bird dogs and a freelance writer for Virginia Wildlife Magazine.

Preceded in death by his parents; brother, Ralph Bays; sister, Peggy Bays Kasparian; brother, Harold G. Bays; brother-in-law, Jack Kane; sister-in-law, Norma Brown Waddell.

Charles is survived by his wife of 53 years, Carole Brown Bays; daughter, Elaine Bays-Murphy (John Francis Murphy); grandchildren, Morgan Bays-Simpson, Garrett LeLynn Simpson, Michael (Mick) Murphy; sisters, Ruby Kane, Mary Romer (Mike); brother, Robert Bays (Peggy); brother-in-law, Anthony Kasparian; sister-in-law, Faye Bays; nieces and nephews, Robert Brown, Vicky Brown, Lynne Reynolds (Kevin), Rebecca Brown.

Funeral services will be held Saturday, April 22, 2017, 2 p.m. at Lotz Salem Chapel with Dr. Robert Moore officiating.  Burial will follow in Sherwood Memorial Park.  The family will receive friends on Friday, April 21, 2017 from 2 to 4 and 6 to 8 p.m. at Lotz Funeral Home Salem.
